Plan of Salvation

  • Do you know Christ as your personal Savior? Have you ever received the Lord Jesus Christ into your life?

Realize That God Loves You God loves you and has a plan for your life. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

The Bible Says That All Men Are Sinners Our sins have separated us from God. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23

God made man in His own image. He gave man the ability to choose right from wrong. We choose to sin. Our sins keep us from God.

God’s Word Also Says That Sin Must Be Paid For “For the wages of sin is death....” Romans 6:23

Wages means payment. The payment of our sin is death and hell, separation from God forever. If we continue in our sin, we shall die without Christ and be without God forever.

The Good News Is That Christ Paid For Our Sins All of our sins were laid on Christ on the cross. He paid our sin debt for us. The Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross, and He arose from the dead. He is alive forevermore.

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8

We Must Personally Pray And Receive Christ By Faith The Bible says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:13

Pray And Receive Christ As Your Savior Lord, I know that I am a sinner. If I died today, I would not go to heaven. Forgive my sin, come into my life and be my Savior. Help me live for you from this day forward. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

The Bible says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:13

New Life Everlasting life begins when we receive Christ as our Savior.

Our Doctrinal Statement Irrevocable

  • I.
I believe that the Bible is the verbally inspired Word of God, His revelation to man, inerrant in the original writings; and that it is therefore the supreme and final authority in all matters of doctrine, faith and life. (II Tim 3:15-17; II Peter 1:19-21; Hebrews 1:1; Psa 119:160).

    II.
I believe in the Holy Trinity (God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit) [Deut 6:4; Gen 1:26; Matt 3:16, 17; John 1:1, 2; 10:30; 15:26]: that Jesus Christ is eternal, was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, took our judgment for sin when He died on the cross and shed His precious blood, was raised from the dead on the third day, appeared to His disciples after the resurrection, ascended back to Heaven, and is coming again for His saints in the event known as the rapture [Jn 3:16; 10:30; Matt 1:18-25; Gal 4:4,5; Phil 2: 6-10; Heb 4:15; 10:10; II Cor 5: 19, 21; I Pet 3:18]; that the Holy Spirit is the blessed third person of the Trinity, and that He convicts the sinner, saves him, and indwells the believer [Jn 14:16-18; 16:7-13; I Cor 12:13; Eph 1:13; 4:30].

    III.
I believe in the existence of a real devil who was created as an angel of light, and through his rebellion against God, was cast out of Heaven with those angels who followed him in the rebellion, and now those angels serve him as demon spirits [Isa 14:12-15; Ezek 28:12-19; II Cor 4:3, 4; I Pet 5:8; Rev 12:9, 10; Luke 10:18].

    IV.
I believe the Genesis account of creation in which man was created spontaneously by God and was without sin in the creation; that man, by choice, rebelled against God, and because of this sin, became totally depraved and incurred the penalty of death through his sin [Gen 1:1, 26, 27; Rom 5:12,-19; Psa 51:5; Gal 3:11; Rom 3:10, 11, 23; II Cor 5:14, 15, 19]; that man can only be rightly related to God through the experience of the New Birth, and that this birth is the salvation experience and can only be experienced by repentance of sin and personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; that the believer is eternally saved and can never be lost [Jn 1:12; 3:3-5; Gal 3:26; I Jn 3:1, 2; Jn 10:27-29; Rom 5:8-11; 8:35-39; 11:29; Heb 7:25; Jn 5:9-13; Jude 1].

    V.
I believe in the prominence of the visible church; that the church of the Lord Jesus Christ is His visible organism to carry out the Great Commission in this age, and that one cannot be true to the scriptures and disassociate himself from the ministry of the local gospel preaching church [Acts 2:41-47; 14:27; Eph 4:11-16; 5:26, 27; I Tim 3:1-15; Titus 1:5-11].

    VI.
I believe in the rapture of the church when Christ will take away His saints to be with Him and will return to earth with the saints to set up His earthly kingdom for 1,000 years, and that the kingdom will be followed by eternity future [I Thess 4:13-17; Titus 2:12, 13; I Cor 15:51-57; Rev 19:11-16; 20:1-9; Phil 2:9-11].

    VII.
  • I believe in the conscious eternal blessedness of the saved [I Thess 4:14-17; Rev 21, 22; Jn 14:1-6; Phil 1:21-23; Jn 11:25, 26], and the conscious eternal punishment of the wicked in hell and the lake of fire [Rev 20:11-15; 21:8; Mark 9:48; Rom 6:23; Matt 25:30, 41; Luke 13:28].

Our Vision Statement

  • In years to come let it be said, "Here was a group of Christlike, New Testament believers, fully aware of the challenges of their post-modern culture who gathered by a creek (like many of their forefathers)
  • for the purpose of teaching, preaching, baptism, worship, revival - and the restoration of the wounded - so that when they left the banks of the creek they might take the Gospel to the whole world."

Dr. David M. Atkinson takes his responsibility as Pastor very seriously. He views his position as one of an "under-shepherd" who must "feed the flock of God." For decades our Pastor has had a heart-effective ministry, especially to people with deep wounds and hurts in their lives. Undoubtedly, his unusual ability to empathize with hurting people comes from surviving his own physical and spiritual devastations.

For his over twenty-five years at Dyer Baptist, Pastor Atkinson has balanced this ministry of the heart with uncompromising commitment to the holiness of God and His Word. His sermons probe deeply into both the Bible and the issues we each face in our own spiritual pilgrimage.

Having led him back here after higher education, God allowed a Christian school to be started under Pastor Lee's leadership.

  • In 2015, the church voted for Pastor Lee to become "Co-Head-Pastor." As Pastor David Atkinson transitions to semi-retirement, the main burden of the ministry will fall on Pastor Lee's shoulders.
