We speak of this matter of coming to the place where we completely give up on ourselves. (This is not to say, Give up hope, for hope in self is totally unfounded. Real hope begins where self ends.)
"Lean not unto thine own understanding."
Proverbs 3:5b Leave the old familiar home and country. Leave...to step out on God. The completely abandoned have even been known to step out on the water - and walk!
Have you yet concluded with Paul, "For I know that in me (that is in my flesh) dwelleth no good thing...?"
Romans 7:18 Have you come to see your own will and ways as undesirable and inadequate? Have you been negative with self and its feelings? "NOT my will..."
Luke 22:42a.
Come ill, come well, the cross, the crown,
The rainbow or the thunder;
I fling my soul and body down
For God to plow them under.
Upon a life I did not live,
Upon a death I did not die,
Another's life, Another's death,
I stake my whole eternity.
