People will let you help them if they know you care

What a sad commentary that many unconverted people can look at so many, so-called churches and say, "I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul." Psalm 142:4

One of the most glaring marks of the "hireling", in-it-for-the-fringe-benefits Christian is the absence of compassion. It is impossible to be like Christ without having a spirit of caring about others. John 10:13

Godly men and women do not consistently insulate themselves from the problems and hurt of others. They realize that "the Son of Man came...to minister" and that it takes a certain walking in the other fellow's shoes to produce effective ministry. Mark 10:45 People are willing to be helped and led by the one who is known to care.

A college professor from a secular school diagnosed at least part of both the cause and the effect of an uncaring society when he said, "The trouble with men over thirty is that they do not know how to cry." They may not, but Jesus did, for "Jesus wept." John 11:35 

Lord, teach me, O teach me this secret,
I'm hungry this lesson to learn,
This passionate passion for others,
For this, Blessed Jesus, I yearn.
