Be deeply grateful for God's love for you. Love Him fervently in return.

Dr. Bob Jones, Sr. used to say that "when the fire of gratitude dies on the altar of a man's heart, that man is well nigh impossible."

An ungrateful spirit and an unthankful heart are two of the last stops before heathenism. "When they knew God, they glorified him not as God; neither were thankful..." Romans 1:21

God eventually gives the heart that refuses to glow over to a reprobate mind. The mind problems of many could be solved if they would first solve their cold heart problem. Cold heart problems are best solved by spending time alone in a look at Calvary. He who can look unmoved at Calvary is hopeless.

Andrew Reed wrote:
Come as the fire and purge our hearts
With sacrificial flame;
Let our whole soul an offering be
To our Redeemer's Name.
Amy Carmichael was fond of quoting a poem which concludes,
Let me not sink to be a clod;
Make me Thy fuel, O flame of God.
The godly saints of the ages have, in one way or another, joined in the aspiration of missionary Henry Martyn, "Let me burn out for God."
