We get when we give if we do not give to get.
Have you ever been surprised by the joy of finding yourself thoroughly satisfied right in the middle of doing something for someone else?
It would seem that such a sense of fulfillment and accomplishment is exactly what our Lord had in mind to be the norm of Christian living. God the Father Himself has set the pattern and typified His own plan for us. For, "God so loved the world that He gave..."
John 3:16
Christianity is the way of the Lost Life. It is the way of Giving Living. No power in the universe has been found to equal the power of this strange paradox. No one but God knows exactly how or why a life spent in serving others works so satisfactorily, but thousands have found that it certainly does work. "Work" - not for material, temporal enjoyment, but "work" for the deep peace of spiritual vindication.
Perhaps part of the reason the principle of the Lost Life "works" in satisfying the human spirit is that every human spirit becomes quickly disillusioned with itself and is driven to seek a greater cause outside of itself. Wise men find that Cause in their Creator-Redeemer and His concern for the salvation of souls.
O Lord, make me commited
To a Great, Forever, Cause -
A Cause that's high and right enough
To be its own applause.
